Help. I'm being spammed with hundreds of subscription confirmation requests.

We have received reports of people receiving hundreds or even thousands of subscription confirmation requests from multiple lists and Mailman installations. There are features in Mailman to not accept a subscription request when one is already pending, but this doesn't help if the requests come from different lists and even different servers.

The requests do identify the IP of the requester, and if they all come from a small number of IPs, you can report this abuse to the owner of the IP range.

The other thing you can do is set a filter in your email client to discard these messages. These all have From: headers with addresses containing '-request@' or '-confirm+<hex_token>@' and Subject: headers either 'confirm <hex_token>' or more user friendly strings like 'Your confirmation is required to join the <listname> mailing list' (possibly translated to a non-English language).
