3.2. How can I track subscriber's real names?

Mailman 2.0. : This is not directly possible. Mailman 2.0. only tracks the subscription address, password, and subscription options/configuration.

Mailman 2.1.*: Mailman will attempt to track the GECOS field (ie "real name") of the subscription account.

Note: The GECOS field is an unreliable data entry. It is not safe to expect that the value of the GECOS field with either remain constant for a given subscriber, or that it can be used in any reasonable sense as an authentication or identification mechanism. It is trivially edited, changed, tweaked, and otherwise rewritten by almost every MUA in existance.

Note names can be entered into the Mass Subscription page in addition to addresses.
